More Information

From the manosphere on social media to »parliamentary poetics« to advertising for the German Armed Forces: we will hack our way—through writing and speaking—into public and semi-public linguistic environments.

The exercises are open-ended and may aim either at a concrete activist practice or at a »useless,« aesthetic form of confusion.

Alongside the practical and performative exercises, we will analyze various specific language regulations from politics and everyday life and discuss current examples of artistic approaches to them.

German/English, additional languages as needed.

More information

This workshop departs from a practice the artist developed called Influencer Dance, a deviated dance session from post-modern dance debris reused in community building contexts and heavily informed by both club culture and politicized somatics. These and other dances/dance practices/scores/rituals will reveal their belonging their legacy and how the premises of collectivity, access and healing have been repurposed to repair the social bond. Somehow witnessing the spectrum moving back and forth between representation as a paradigm and agency as a horizon.

Maria F. Scaroni (IT/DE) is a dance artist, living in Berlin since 2004. She creates and interprets choreographic works rooted in improvisational practices and altered states of consciousness. Maria hosts workshops re-purposing post-modern dance legacies towards technologies for mutual empowerment, crossbreeding somatic practices and anti-oppression frameworks, storytelling and theory, to bring somatic competence in support of a culture of connection. Maria performs in Meg Stuart’s works (Poltics of Ecstasy, Auf den Tisch!, Built to Last, Sketches/Notebook, Until Our Hearts Stop, City Lights, Tanzkongress, Solos&Duos, Waterworks) with whom she collaborates since 2009. After collective Lecken, an erogenous queer rave, since pandemic she has been hosting Social Pleasure Center, a community space for somatic post-activism, queer feminist joyful militancy, radical redistribution of resources and temporary social choreography. She currently creates (Unsex Me Here) and teaches (Somatic Drag) with icon drag queen Olympia Bukkakis.

More information

This workshop wants to think about audience participation immersive set ups and participatory perspectives on art making in a creative way that both challenges everyday interactions and is sensitive towards inherent power dynamics.

We will work on small scale interactive performance sketches and performative experiments and think about modi of interactivity together that’ll include concepts like consens, co-creation, improvisation, immersion, play and play testing.

The workshop is for everyone who’s interested in interactive set ups – whether they already have experiences with them in their own practice or not. Maria is a dramaturg, theater maker and research assistant that dedicates most of her artistic experiments and theoretical research to collective performance making and interactive set ups. The practices shared in the Workshop will be parts of her own research, excerpts from texts of relating authors and material from long term collaborators and friends.

The workshop will be held in English but partial translation to German, if necessary, will be possible. The workshop will take place at Willy-Brandt-Straße 8+10. There’s no elevator in the building, more info on accessibility can be found on the Website of Campus Gegenwart.
